"For more than 120 years, workers of the world have united to celebrate May Day. The size and scope of events has been a barometer of the constant struggle for a better world. With a new economic crisis and new movements of resistance, May Day is re-emerging as an important day for solidarity and action."
This year was no exception. With Canadians reeling from the RBC scandal, the Savar tragedy, and increasing numbers of layouts and lockouts, May Day was more relevant - and feisty - than ever.
I was not able to stay for the whole rally, missing the planned march to Norway Park to support the striking Porter Workers. But I got lots of great footage. As I usually do, I wrote, sang, recorded & mixed the "resistance anthem" that accompanies it.
