On November 16, thousands will come together in their communities to build a united wall of opposition to pipelines, reckless tar sands expansion and runaway climate change.T here will be events in 9 cities from Northern BC to the Maratimes.
Over the coming weeks and months, Canadian governments will make decisions about tar sands pipelines that could push the world toward runaway climate change and permanently damage our communities. We can do better, and a build a clean, just, and safe energy future. Now, in this crucial moment, we need to show our governments that opposition to pipelines, reckless tar sands expansion and runaway climate change is growing in communities across the country
The Defend our Climate, Defend our Communities national day of action is being organized by a coalition of dozens of organizations and hundreds of individuals from coast-to-coast-to-coast. Flagship events are being organized by groups like the Sierra Club of BC, Forest Ethics Advocacy, Ecology Ottawa, Équiterre, and the Ecology Action Centre.The community events at MPs offices and local community landmarks are being organized and hosted by local groups and volunteers with support from Leadnow.ca and other organizing partners including Greenpeace, Environmental Defense, Sierra Club BC, The Council of Canadians, Coastal First Nations Great Bear Initiative, Leadnow.ca, Forest Ethics Advocacy, CCNB Action, Ecology Ottawa, Keepers of the Athabasca, Georgia Straight Alliance, Living Oceans, Lakes District Clean Waters Coalition, Save the Fraser Gathering of Nations, Save Canada, equittere, Tar Sands Solution Network, and more.
The Vancouver Defend our Climate, Defend our Communities event will be held at Science World at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 16. We will be gathering there to show our opposition to the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline.
