Trump's “Liberation Day” announcement of wide-ranging tariffs has sparked global economic turmoil. While some US unions are backing these tariffs in the belief they will "save jobs" or bring back jobs to the US, as Trump claims, Canadian politicians and unions argue that counter-tariffs and “buy Canadian” policies will protect jobs in Canada.
